Social Media Marketing, A New Edge
Thanks to social media, today’s small businesses have better avenues to compete with the larger corporations than in recent decades. Long gone are the days of expensive magazine, newspaper, and yellow pages ads. Sure, most of these are still used for advertising, along with radio and tv commercials, but now smaller businesses with very little budget can reach a broad audience too.
Social media marketing gives a greater edge to small businesses than was ever possible before. It allows small businesses to increase their web presence, build their brand, while also honing in on their target audience and building relationships with their customers.
It’s all in the numbers
According to Statista, approximately 58.6% of consumers in America interact with brands at least one to three times daily via social media. A business’ social media account is the preferred channel for 40% of female social media users. Think about it – how often have you searched a brand online to see what they are all about? If they have social media profiles, many consumers check them out to see what they have to offer, what they are about, and how they treat others. Social media marketing is a very big deal. It would be a mistake for any business not to take advantage of this great marketing resource.
Where to begin?
Let’s see, there’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Tumblr, Youtube, Periscope, etc. – whew it can be dizzying!
With so many social media outlets available, it can be overwhelming trying to figure out where to begin. Don’t despair! Take baby steps. Write out your goals, then break it down into smaller steps from there.
It’s best to start out small, with one or two sites and then add more later, as you get the hang of it and find your voice. Even better, you can integrate your social media outlets with your website to have streamlined marketing efforts.
Be Social!
Social media is not just about selling a product, it’s about building relations, being social. It is the perfect lead nurturing tool available. Use it to show your customers that you truly care about them.
Avoid being too salesy, rather share something meaningful to your target audience. Of course, occasionally you want to use it for sharing your products and services, launching a promo or event, but too much of this will be a turn off. Give them something that will make them want to come back for more. Have fun with it!
Through implementation of the right social media marketing plan, you can increase your business exponentially with little to no budget.
